There's no denying that this Dahlia Edge of Joy brings pleasure. Unlike the often deep but beautiful colours of other Dahlias, this one makes for a wonderfully fresh feature in your garden. The double row of pale pink petals turn deep purple and surround the open yellow heart. The amount of purple can vary, so no two flowers will be the same. They won't be the tallest or largest flowers, but can reach up to 60 centimetres with flowers of up to 15 centimetres when in bloom, so will certainly stand out. And not just for us, but for bees and butterflies too.
The Dahlia Edge of Joy's open flower and yellow open heart provides the perfect place for all flying nectar lovers to land and forage.
Dahlia blooms from summer to autumn
The Dahlia Edge of Joy flowers from summer through to the first frost, which can be quite some time in the Netherlands. And the beauty of Dahlias, the more you pick the more will grow. General rule of thumb is to plant them outdoors after the last frost, also known as 'ice saints', around the end of May. But Dahlias aren't fussy so if you want the earliest possible start, get this gorgeous Dahlia into the ground, and it will be fine. You can even leave them in the pot, provided it's big enough. The Dahlia Edge of Joy likes a bit of space and well-drained soil around its roots.
