Detail
Achillea ‘Lachsschönheit’ is a yarrow that gradually changes its appearance throughout the summer. The broad, flat flower heads open in warm shades of salmon pink and coral. As the flowers age, the colors soften from light pink to creamy white. Because not all flowers open at the same time, you’ll often see different shades side by side on the same plant.
Beneath the flowers grow delicate, deeply lobed gray-green leaves. This gives ‘Lachsschönheit’ an airy appearance and makes it easy to pair with other perennials, such as Echinacea, Salvia, Verbena, and ornamental grasses. The warm salmon hues also stand out beautifully against purple, white, and soft yellow.
A great landing spot for pollinators
The flat flower heads consist of countless tiny flowers. This makes it easy for bees, hoverflies, butterflies, and other insects to access nectar and pollen. In this way, ‘Lachsschönheit’ brings not only color but also plenty of life to the summer border.
Give this Achillea a sunny spot in well-drained soil. Once well-established, yarrow can handle drier periods very well. It does not tolerate overly wet soil as well, especially in winter. Remove spent flower heads to encourage new blooms, or leave a few standing for added texture later in the season. The sturdy flower stems also look lovely in a summer bouquet and can be dried.
A robust, long-blooming perennial for those who love soft colors and a garden that attracts insects.
