As the name suggests, Tiny Timo is small. But what it lacks in size, it makes up for in character. Red petals on the outside, and as soon as they open — a surprising white-and-blue centre that you wouldn’t expect. It is this combination that sets it apart from other botanical tulips and makes it a real eye-catcher, even on a patio or balcony.
A wild tulip with spirit
Tulipa ‘Tiny Timo’ is a wild tulip — botanical in origin, robust in character. It grows naturally in dry, stony places where it is accustomed to little water and plenty of sun. In the garden, this translates to a plant that asks for little but gives a lot. Plant it in a well-drained, sunny spot and it will look after itself. On cloudy days, the flowers remain closed; in the sun, they open wide — precisely when the bees are active.
Naturalisation and return
Tiny Timo naturalises easily and returns every year. It propagates via tubers and slowly forms small, dense clumps that become more vibrant each spring. Combine it with other small naturalising plants such as Muscari, Scilla or Tulipa Tarda for a varied and natural spring display. It also thrives in a pot on a sunny balcony. Organically grown, certified NL-BIO-01.
