Detail
There are tulips that stand out because of their size. The Little Beauty stands out for its colour. Carmine pink on the outside, but as soon as it opens, you can see it: a heart of deep cobalt blue, edged by a ring of white. A colour combination you wouldn’t expect in a tulip, and that’s precisely why you won’t forget it. Tulipa ‘Little Beauty’ is a mini botanical tulip — compact, fragrant and surprisingly productive.
Naturalisation and revival
Like other botanical tulips, the Little Beauty is a true perennial. It originates from the mountainous regions of the Middle East and is naturally adapted to dry summers and cold winters. In the garden, this means: plant it in a dry, sunny spot and let it get on with it. It naturalises on its own, multiplies slowly and becomes fuller over the years. No fuss, just that surprise every spring.
Planting and care
Plant the bulbs in autumn at a depth of around 8–10 cm, in a warm spot with well-drained soil. They thrive in a rockery, at the front of a border or in a pot on a sunny balcony. On cloudy days, the flowers close neatly — as soon as the sun comes out, they open wide again, ready to welcome bees. Organically grown, certified NL-BIO-01.
