The Blushing Lady blushes. Not modestly, but with complete abandon — pink and yellow in a single flower, on a slender, elongated silhouette characteristic of the lily-flowered group. Up to 60 centimetres tall, with an elegance rarely found in other tulips. You won’t be able to get this tulip out of your mind.
Lily-flowered — what does that mean?
Lily-flowered tulips are a distinct class. Whereas the classic tulip has a round, closed bud, lily-flowered varieties open wide and at an angle outwards, with pointed petals that sometimes curve back slightly at the top. It gives the flower an airy, almost exotic quality — as if it were dancing effortlessly. Combined with the Blushing Lady’s distinctive pink-and-yellow colour scheme, the result is a tulip that catches the eye of even the most seasoned garden enthusiasts.
From border to vase
The Blushing Lady is just as at home in a border as she is in a vase. In the field, she combines beautifully with other pastel shades — think salmon pink, soft white or pale purple. In a vase, cut just as the bud begins to colour, it lasts a long time and opens up beautifully. Plant the bulbs in autumn at a depth of around 15 cm in a sunny, well-drained spot. Organically grown, certified NL-BIO-01.
