Bee Buffet Picnick under the Trees - ORG

Imagine this: a spot under a large tree, where the grass is a little sparser and the sun doesn’t always reach. That little corner deserves a touch of spring too. The ‘Bee Buffet Picnic Under the Trees’ mix was designed precisely for such a spot — fifty-five bulbs in four varieties, all of which thrive in partial shade and, together, provide a long and varied flowering period.

From blue to white to yellow

The Chionodoxa ‘Blue Giant’ is the first to bloom, with bright blue star-shaped flowers close to the ground. Next come the white Narcissus ‘Thalia’ and the small yellow-and-white Narcissus ‘Tazetta Minnow’ — both fragrant, both elegant. Bringing the display to a close is the Tulipa Sylvestris, the only true wild tulip in the Netherlands, with its soft yellow flowers among the green grass. Four varieties, one story, from March through to May.

Planting and letting nature take its course

Plant the bulbs in autumn in well-drained, nutrient-rich soil in partial shade. Plant Chionodoxa at a depth of 5 cm, daffodils at 10–15 cm, and Tulipa Sylvestris at 10 cm. Scatter them loosely for the most natural-looking effect. After flowering, let the foliage die back naturally — the bulbs are recharging for the following year. All four varieties return annually and become more beautiful with each passing year. Organically grown, certified NL-BIO-01.
