Delft Blue is famous for its pottery, but this garden has nothing to do with tableware – at most, it shares the colours: blue, white and a touch of purple. That’s all this organic flower bulb mix needs. The Delft Blue Garden is made up of six varieties of spring-flowering bulbs that don’t try to outshine one another, but rather complement each other. They flower in succession, go perfectly together and come in a handy gift bag. Lovely to give as a present, but let’s be honest: there’s a good chance you’ll want to keep it for yourself.

Six varieties, one colour palette

In this mix, you’ll find crocuses, grape hyacinths, daffodils and tulips that have been carefully selected based on both colour and flowering time. The first crocuses pop their heads above the ground as soon as spring begins. Then the grape hyacinths and daffodils take over, followed by the tulips as a colourful finale. You don’t have to work out for yourself which varieties go well together or when they’ll flower, we’ve already done the thinking for you. The result is a garden or pot that changes throughout the weeks, without ever looking untidy.

From the first to the last flower

Whereas individual bulbs often all flower at the same time and then finish flowering all at once, this mix is specifically designed to provide a continuous display: the earliest crocuses open first, followed by daffodils and grape hyacinths, with the tulips as the grand finale. This way, you can enjoy colour in your border for months on end without having to work out which varieties go well together or when best to plant them.

Plant the organically grown bulbs in the autumn, scattered randomly or in small clusters, in a sunny to lightly shaded spot with well-drained soil. The different flowering times ensure that there’s always something in bloom from early spring right through to May. This is very inviting for bees and bumblebees, which are just waking up and looking for their first food of the year. The more different flowering plants you have, the longer these little creatures will have something to feed on in your garden.
