Allium Magic flowers in June/July, a tiny bit later than most Alliums. The earlier the bulbs are planted in autumn, the earlier the flowers will bloom.
Alliums flower just after the “real” spring flowers and just before the first summer flowers, allowing you to create a garden that is always in bloom.

The flowers of Allium Magic appear from June onwards and will enrich your garden or balcony for 2 to 6 weeks.

The rule of thumb is to dig a hole about 2-3 times the height of the bulb. For Allium Magic, this means a depth of about 15 centimetres.
It is important to plant the bulbs at the correct depth so that they are sufficiently protected and will sprout at the right time.

The best time to plant Allium Magic is in autumn. At that time, the soil is still warm, which is good for root development, but it is cooling down, which is ideal for the dormant period of the flower bulbs.
Plant your bulbs before the first frost, so they have the best chance of surviving the winter.

For a nice, dense planting of Allium Magic, we recommend 15-25 bulbs per square metre.
Plant the bulbs about 20-30 centimetres apart so that they have enough space and can absorb sufficient nutrients.

The Magic is available to order on our website from January to November, or until it is sold out.

We deliver Allium Magic from September to December.

The stems of the Allium Magic grow to a height of around 90 to 120 centimetres.
Hundreds of small purple flowers come together to form a beautiful, ball-shaped bloom.

Allium Magic thrives best in well-drained, nutrient-rich sandy or loamy soil. This ornamental onion is sensitive to waterlogging, so make sure that excess water can drain away. Nutrient-rich soil is important. If necessary, add some compost to improve the soil, or check out more tips for improving the soil here.
They like slightly calcareous soil, but this is not essential.

The best position for Allium Magic is in the sun, although they will also do well in light shade.

You will be able to enjoy the beautiful Allium Magic for several years, as they will come back up all on their own!
However, this variety will not naturalise by itself.

The Allium Magic is a favourite of bees, butterflies and other pollinators. The flowers' nectar is easily accessible, so the little creatures will return year after year, just like the flowers. Great for biodiversity!

Allium Magic bulbs are hardy, which means that after flowering, you can simply leave them in the ground for next year.

No, Allium Magic is not native to the Netherlands and Belgium. This new species is a cross between Allium Atropurpureum and Allium Schubertii.

It is best to plant the Allium Magic bulbs as soon as possible after receiving them. If necessary, you can leave them in their paper packaging and store them temporarily in a dry, cool place.
If you wish to move them, wait until the foliage has completely died back and carefully dig up the bulbs. Allow the bulbs to dry thoroughly and store them in a paper bag or wrap them in newspaper. Place them in a dark, cool and dry place, such as a cellar or shed. Check regularly for mould or rot and replant them in the garden in the autumn.
