Detail
Gaura ‘Siskiyou Pink’, or gaura, brings movement and color to a sunny border for months on end. Deep pink flowers emerge again and again from dark pink to reddish-purple buds on long, slender stems. The four petals give the flowers a light, almost butterfly-like shape. Because not all flowers open at once, the plant continues to add new color over a long period. The slender flower stems sway easily in the breeze, giving ‘Siskiyou Pink’ a loose, natural appearance.
Airy Among Other Perennials
Candleflower looks beautiful among plants with sturdier forms. Pair it, for example, with Echinacea, Achillea, Agastache, Rudbeckia, or ornamental grasses. The pink flowers seem to float among the other plants, keeping even a full border airy. ‘Siskiyou Pink’ grows to about 70–90 centimeters tall in a suitable location. The plant forms a clump of narrow green leaves at the base, sometimes with reddish to darker markings.
Sun and, above all, well-drained soil
Plant Gaura in a sunny spot in light, well-drained soil. Once well-established, the plant can handle dry and warm periods just fine. Good drainage is especially important in winter. Gaura does not like soil that remains wet for long periods; too much winter moisture can damage the roots. A sunny, somewhat drier spot is therefore ideal.
By cutting back spent flower stalks, you can encourage the plant to continue blooming longer. This way, ‘Siskiyou Pink’ remains a light, colorful addition to the border well into the season.
The plant is delivered as a young, well-rooted plant in a compact P9 pot.
