Detail
Narcis Sailboat is an organic jonquil daffodil with ivory-white flowers, a soft yellow trumpet and a wonderfully sweet fragrance. This compact daffodil flowers profusely in spring and produces one to three flowers per stem. Thanks to its natural appearance, subtle fragrance and ability to naturalise well, Sailboat is a popular choice for borders, rockeries and flower pots.
Brought over from America
The name Sailboat is perfectly fitting. The ivory-white petals billow backwards like little sails in the wind, whilst the soft yellow trumpet remains calmly in the centre. A daffodil that literally seems to move, even when there isn’t a breath of wind. Sailboat originally became popular in America before this special jonquilla daffodil made the crossing to European gardens. It loves a sunny spot and thrives in a temperate climate. A traveller that manages to put down roots anywhere.
Small flower, big scent
Each stem bears one to three flowers, which may look modest but have a strikingly strong fragrance. This is characteristic of jonquil daffodils, which are loved for their sweet scent. Plant ‘Sailboat’ along a garden path, in a pot by the door, or cut a few flowers for a small vase on the table. The scent spreads surprisingly quickly, bringing a touch of spring indoors. The open flowers also attract wild bees, bumblebees and other pollinators searching for nectar in spring.
Compact and naturalising
Standing around 25 centimetres tall, ‘Sailboat’ fits effortlessly into the front edge of a border, a rockery or a pot on a balcony or terrace. Plant the organic daffodil bulbs in autumn in a sunny to lightly shaded spot in well-drained soil. Under the right conditions, the bulbs naturalise easily and spread further each year. The bulbs are 100% organically grown, with care for the soil, biodiversity and a healthy garden. This way, you can enjoy an elegant daffodil every spring that looks just as light and graceful as its name suggests.
