Detail
A pot full of flowers is lovely. A pot that keeps renewing itself for months on end is even lovelier. That’s exactly the idea behind this bulb lasagne with an Artstone pot. You plant three types of organic flower bulbs on top of one another, each at its own depth. First the crocuses appear, then the daffodils, and finally the tulips. Without any extra effort, the same pot keeps changing ever so slightly. Every few weeks, it looks a little different.
Three layers isn’t a gimmick, it’s simply clever
Flower bulbs don’t all grow at the same depth. Tulips prefer to be planted a little deeper than crocuses, whilst daffodils sit right in between. By making clever use of this, you can plant several varieties in a single pot without them getting in each other’s way. This is called a ‘bulb lasagne’. The result is not only a longer flowering period, but also a pot that looks much fuller than if you were to plant just one variety. In this combination, twenty purple and white crocuses provide an early start, followed by five graceful Papillon Blanc daffodils and seven Salmon Impression tulips that bring spring to a colourful close.
A grey pot that lets everything shine
The Artstone Bola Grey doesn’t need to steal the show. The flowers do that all by themselves. The subtle shade of grey really brings out the white of the daffodils, the purple of the crocuses and the soft salmon pink of the tulips. This means this pot suits a modern garden just as well as a classic terrace or a small balcony. The pot is made from recycled stone powder and synthetic material; it is lightweight yet strong enough to withstand summer, winter and frost outdoors without any problems. Thanks to the raised base and the drainage hole, the flower bulbs will never become waterlogged. If you bring it indoors, you can simply seal the hole with the rubber cap provided.
A complete kit that only requires potting compost
You’ll receive not only the 100% organically grown flower bulbs, but also the Artstone pot and clear planting instructions. Plant the bulbs between September and December, place the pot outside and let winter do its work. From February onwards, the first layer will start to flower and the pot will gradually bring spring to life. It really couldn’t be easier. And that’s precisely the charm of a bulb lasagne.
