Natural Bulbs
There are spots in the garden where most bulbs give up. Along a pond, in low-lying areas that remain wet for long periods in winter, or in the partial shade of a large tree. The ‘Oeverpracht’ Bee Buffet has been specially selected for precisely these spots — three varieties that not only survive in wet, cool soil, but also bloom beautifully there.
Three varieties, each with its own moment
The Fritillaria meleagris opens in early April with its distinctive chequered purple and white bells. The Leucojum Gravetye Giant follows — large white bells that remain in bloom until May. The Camassia caerulea rounds off the display with long clusters of blue-purple flowers on tall stems. Together, they provide weeks of flowering in a spot where other plant combinations would have long since given up.
A paradise for bees in a damp spot
Bees find it harder in cool, damp spots — there’s usually less in bloom. This pack changes that. All three species are bee-friendly: the Fritillaria with its hanging bells for long-tongued bumblebees, and the Leucojum and Camassia for a wider audience. A riverside spot with this pack attracts pollinators that would otherwise never visit.
Plant along a riverbank, by a pond or in a damp border
Plant the bulbs in autumn in a moist to wet, partially shaded spot. Plant Fritillaria and Leucojum at a depth of around 8–10 cm, and Camassia slightly deeper at 15 cm. They thrive in humus-rich, heavy soil — precisely the sort of soil that other bulbs tend to avoid. Once planted, they naturalise and return every year. Organically grown, certified NL-BIO-01.
