Detail
The wild crocus is the big brother of the little crocuses — sturdier, larger and with flowers that really stand out. This mix features a variety of colours: deep purple, pure white, sunny yellow and delicately striped. Together, they create a spontaneous and cheerful effect, as if the flowers had chosen to stand there just like that.
Planting in lawns or borders
The wild crocus naturalises easily, making it ideal for scattering through the grass — literally. Toss the bulbs loosely into the grass or border and plant them where they land, at a depth of about 8–10 cm. In the lawn: wait to mow until the crocus foliage has turned yellow, so that the bulb can store enough energy for the following year. After a few seasons, you’ll have a dense, colourful patch that spreads every spring.
For bees and butterflies
Crocuses are one of the very first sources of nectar of the year. Bees searching for food after winter find a welcome first meal in the wild crocus. By planting a mix of different colours and with slight variations in flowering time, you can extend the period during which pollinators are supported.
Year after year
Once planted, the bulbs return every year — and they get better with age. The wild crocus is fully hardy and requires virtually no maintenance. Plant in autumn, enjoy in March.
