Daffodil - Narcissus Martinette - ORG

Whilst most daffodils bear a single flower per stem, the ‘Martinette’ daffodil goes one step further. Each stem produces four to six lemon-yellow blooms with a vibrant orange centre, which together create a strikingly colourful display. This organic cluster daffodil is known not only for its abundant flowering, but above all for its delightful, fresh citrus scent. A tazetta: a cup and a saucer

Martinette belongs to the tazetta daffodils, a distinctive group known for producing multiple flowers per stem and for their strong fragrance. The name ‘tazetta’ is derived from the Italian ‘tazze e piattini’ – cups and saucers – a nod to the round flowers with their small trumpet and broad petals. These often point slightly backwards, making it seem as though each flower is bending just a little towards you. Thanks to its profuse flowering, a single bulb soon resembles a small bouquet, making Martinette an instant eye-catcher both in the border and in a pot.

A nose full of springtime fragrance

Anyone who has ever had a bouquet of Martinette in their home won’t forget that scent in a hurry. Fresh, citrusy and surprisingly potent: within no time at all, it fills an entire room with its fragrance. It’s a special experience outdoors too. Along a garden path, by a patio or next to the front door, you’ll often smell it before you even see the flowers. The open flowers also attract wild bees, bumblebees and other pollinators searching for nectar and pollen in spring.
